Catalog Description : Ensemble Thinking (ET) is a system of physical, improvisational, group scores that provides organizing lenses through which we observe and participate in movement and performance. ET is a flexible form that refines the individual’s ability to perceive, initiate, and support collective action. The scores are physical, group parameters that are playfully and rigorously practiced in order to build shared language, illuminate power dynamics, extend relational compositional possibilities, and attune as a community. ET’s conceptual nature allows for access adaptability and applications in other fields of practice, such as business, athletics, and other performance. Alongside in-studio dance explorations, students will investigate applications of Ensemble Thinking to other fields of study. Attributes: Music Course, Cross-Listed Course, First Year Friendly, GER Fine Arts Div, 100-199 Introductory Course
