A course designed to offer students an opportunity to study important issues in biology not covered in other regularly offered classes. Activities may include reading and analysis of material from primary literature, consideration of interdisciplinary connections, and field and laboratory activities.
Topic for Spring 2014: Primate Cognition and Communication
This seminar course critically examines the study of communication and cognition among primates. Brain morphology and function will be explored in correlation to communication and cognitive studies conducted in both human and non-human primates. Further, throughout the course the evolution of the human brain, cognition, and language will be analyzed. NOTE: This class may be applied to requirements for the neuroscience interdisciplinary area.
