Catalog Description : Examination and analysis of the history and theory of dance. Each topic will explore distinct and specific historical periods and theoretical ideas.

Topic for Fall 2013: Choreography
The art of choreography is truly interdisciplinary; encompassing not only movement composition but also directing, design, and musicality. Beginning with the fundamental principles of movement composition, this class will expand to consider generative tools and constructs used by contemporary choreographers. Reading, video viewing, and discussion will feed our creation of practical choreographic studies. The class will culminate in a final showing of work.
