Catalog Description : This course will address an advanced topic in the sub-field of Comparative Politics, such as democracy and authoritarianism, politics of the city, political participation and social movements, gender and politics, or the comparative method.

Topic for Spring 2014: Religion and Human Rights
The emergence and contemporary salience of the human rights movement, utilizing recent research on religious influences and with a geographical focus on Latin America. How do moral causes motivate active social responses? When do they have significant impact?
