An introduction to the creation and rule of Colonial Latin America between the 15th and 19th centuries. Emphasis is on the patterns of conquest and cultural encounter, mechanisms of colonial rule, interaction between ethnic groups, and the cultural impact of the colonial experience upon Latin America’s peoples.
