Catalog Description :
Topic for Fall 2015: Leadership and Coalition Building
This seminar explores political leadership and coalition building from the perspective of strategic theories of politics. We will critically explore this approach using applications from such areas as congressional politics, the presidency, and to a lesser extent judicial politics, parliamentary politics, and international relations. This seminar is a good choice for students wishing to complete a senior experience paper on American politics.
Topic for Winter 2016: Causes of Terrorism
Starting from the assumption that terrorism is a strategy worth understanding, this course investigates explanations from a variety of theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches. Students will complete a substantial research project that satisfies the Government department’s senior experience requirement.
Topic for Spring 2016: Comparative Politics
This seminar is intended to help students conceptualize and complete a senior experience project. Readings from comparative politics and international relations will be used to model the various stages of, and approaches to, conducting research.
