Catalog Description : A survey of art and architecture in Europe and the eastern Mediterranean between the fourth and ninth centuries. Topics include Imperial-sponsored Christian art, the development of Byzantine art and architecture, the Celtic artistic tradition of northern Europe, and the flowering of art under the Carolingian emperors.
