Topic for Spring 2016: Electroacoustic Music Composition
This course is a composition-based exploration of the electroacoustic music genre, specifically within the context of contemporary art music. The primary goal of the course will be to create an engaging and compelling electroacoustic composition. To that end, readings, listening assignments, and seminar-style discussions will provide a broad perspective and rich foundation for imagination. Work on the final composition will be a cumulative and concurrent process that takes place through smaller, related tasks. In addition, through the process of using the digital audio software Logic Pro, fundamental topics such as digital audio sampling and editing, digital signal processing, sound synthesis, MIDI sequencing, and multi-track sound mixing will also be covered.
