Spring Term 2016 Religion in Indonesia - 3929 - RLST 526

Catalog Description : This course will study the religious traditions of Indonesia. We will concentrate on the island of Java and the history of the dominant Islamic faith, but we will also examine the Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian traditions in Indonesia and the form of civil religion known as Pancasila. Students will also meet once a week to read sections of Clifford Geertz's classic The Religion of Java and also complete a seminar paper. Not open to students who have previously received credit for RLST 226.
