Catalog Description : This course draws upon global case studies of humanitarian intervention in order to encourage students to engage critically with the complexity of what seems like an unequivocal good: humanitarian aid. Through a variety of audiovisual materials, texts, and oral and written assignments, students will develop a strong critical appreciation of the global political economy of aid and of the ethical dilemmas that accompany lifesaving. PREREQUISITES: ANTH 110
