Prerequisites/Notes: Junior standing or consent of instructor Catalog Description : What are the paths and obstacles to living a compassionate life? Can attempts to act compassionately in public life succeed? How can we cultivate an ethic of compassion towrds ourselves and others? In this seminar we will discuss readings from a range of disciplines, genres, and spiritual traditions. Requirements include short papers, experiments with strategies for more compassionate living, and a final project.
