Catalog Description : In this introductory course, students will learn basic concepts and theories in linguistic anthropology, begin to understand the complex relationship between language and culture, survey some of the important literature in the field, learn linguistic ethnographic methods, and work on hands-on projects that will demonstrate what they have learned. Classes will be a mix of lecture, discussion, and project work. PREREQUISITES: Freshman or sophomore standing; consent of instructor required for juniors and seniors
