Catalog Description : Engage the art of Europe's fascination with witchcraft and the supernatural from 1100 to 1800 using materials from the university's rare book and art collections. We will examine depictions of magicians, sorcerers, and witches, along with their rituals and politico-religious prosecution. Methods include historical contextualization, chronological comparison, slow looking, and analysis of the iconography and semiotics of witchcraft.
