Catalog Description : A study of the creation of a socialist state on the territory of the former Russian empire. Themes include the revolutionary origins of the state, economic modernization and social transformation, the emergence of the Stalinist political order, nationality policy, intellectual and artistic activity, and the decline and collapse of the Soviet system.
