Catalog Description : What do religious texts instruct, and what do people do with those instructions? This lecture/discussion course examines the relationships between religious traditions in India, Nepal, and Bhutan as understood through texts and as enacted in everyday life. Through texts, film, comic books and art, we will explore the origins and development of Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism in light of political change, modernization and globalization.
