Catalog Description : In this discussion-based course, we will grapple with language stretched to its absolute limit as we move through several centuries of writers attempting to describe war's indescribable violences, from the U.S. Civil War to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Assignments will include discussion leading, journal-keeping. 2-3 short papers, and a final exam.
