Prerequisites/Notes: sophomore standing Catalog Description : This course will focus on reading a classic text related to the field of religious studies. The work chosen could be related to the philosophy or sociology of religion or have theological or historical importance within a specific religious tradition. May be repeated when topic is different. Topic for Spring 2020: Hindu Epics: Texts, Ethics, and Performances Students will engage with the textual composition, ethical questions, and the living performative traditions of the two classical Hindu epics: the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.
