Prerequisites/Notes: SPAN 202, its equivalent, or official placement and consent of instructor. Students who successfully completed SPAN 430 cannot register for GLST 330.

Catalog Description : An introduction to the critical analysis of Latin American and Spanish film. Students will study a series of films and pertinent readings through class discussions, different types of assignments, and presentations. The course is organized around the central topic of the relationship between audiovisual representation and power. Students will explore different ways in which Latin American and Spanish cinema has portrayed hegemonic and non-hegemonic identities along lines of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. Class taught in Spanish. Units: 6. PREREQUISITES: SPAN 202, its equivalent, or official placement and consent of instructor. Students who successfully completed SPAN 430 cannot register for GLST 330.
