Catalog Description :
This course allows for an in-depth examination of various aspects of filmmaking, with a dual focus on close reading of related film studies texts and practical exploration of advanced techniques, culminating in a final video project.
Topic for Winter 2022: Found Footage
This course will explore the history and contemporary practice of found footage filmmaking through hands-on workshops, readings, screenings, discussion, and critique. Topics will include best practices in fair use, traditional 16mm film editing, video montage, rotoscoping and collage animation. Students will complete several short creative exercises and a final film/video project.
