Catalog Description : The Cantigas de Santa Maria, a 13th-cen. songbook with hundreds of songs and miniatures, was created in Toledo, Spain. This class will travel to Toledo, Spain. As we analyze relationships depicted in the manuscript among Christians, Muslims and Jews, we will visit surviving churches, mosques, synagogues, and museums to deepen our understanding of the complexities of life and culture in medieval Spain.
