Catalog Description : In this lecture/discussion course, we will grapple with the difficult poetry of Emily Dickinson, one of the greatest, and most mythologized, of American poets. Cutting through the myths of Dickinson, we will attempt to get to the truth of Dickinson by careful readings of her poetry and archival investigations of its historical and material contexts. Assignments will include short weekly papers, presentations, and a substantial final research project.
