Catalog Description : This course will explore African American History from 1865 to the present. We will examine the major themes, problems, events, structures, and personalities of African American History, paying particular attention to how African Americans themselves shaped their experiences. We will devote some portion of each week to the close examination of a variety of primary sources, including: autobiographies, fiction, film, speeches, music, and art. PREREQUISITES: Sophomore standing
