Topic for Spring 2024: Race and Pandemics
PREREQUISITES: None
This course examines the history of medicine and racism alongside major epidemic diseases in late 18th century American history to the present COVID-19 Pandemic. This is done through a range of primary and secondary documents which are used to introduce and closely examine major themes, time periods, and individuals. The course also focuses on historical controversies, such as access to health care, racialization of disease, and inferior treatments.
