Topic for Spring 2024: Power Trip: Energy in World History
PREREQUISITES: Sophomore standing or consent of instructor
This course explores world history from the perspective of energy in human societies. In this combination lecture and discussion-based course, you will learn how human societies have harnessed energy to fuel conquest, economic expansion, and technological innovations, resulting in human injustices as well as biodiversity declines and climate change. Finally, you will gain important skills, including analytical writing, persuasive speaking, and historical research methods.
