Catalog Description : This lecture and discussion course introduces sociological understandings of the U.S./Mexico border. More than a geographical divide, the border has a power and a force that structures and patterns human behavior, identity, and belonging for people who live near it, cross it, locate it in their memory, and see its effects on their family and friends. Students test understandings through presentations, exams and final projects. PREREQUISITES: Sophomore standing or consent of instructor
