Prerequisites/Notes: One 300-level Spanish course, its equivalent, or consent of instructor Catalog Description : From 711 to 1492, the Iberian Peninsula was home to Muslim, Christian, and Jewish communities. The period was marked by conflict and persecution, but also by extraordinary collaboration and cultural flourishing. In this class, we study the architecture, music, literature, and philosophy produced by vibrant multiconfessional communities, paying particular attention to the role of friendship in creation. Class is taught as a writing intensive seminar.
