Spring Term 2025 Nature and the New Novel - 4118 - FREN 425

Prerequisites/Notes: At least one 300-level FREN course or instructor approval.

Catalog Description : This course prioritizes description of setting—the natural world and human-constructed environments—over plot and character. Reading for the background turns our attention to various non-human perspectives and subjectivities. How have experimental French-language writers addressed the changing climate conditions of our planet over the course of the 20th and 21st centuries? Assignments include daily reading responses, three 3-5 page essays, and a final presentation. PREREQUISITES: At least one 300-level FREN course or instructor approval.
