Catalog Description : An introduction to artistic traditions in China, Japan, and Korea, from prehistory to the 21st century, including tomb and temple sites, gardens, calligraphy, ink painting, woodblock prints, tea ceremony vessels, and contemporary art. Through a balance of broader art historical readings, primary texts, scholarly essays, and close-looking at objects, students will explore how an object’s visual and material properties contribute to its function.
