Prerequisites/Notes: GEST 100, or another GEST class and consent of instructor Catalog Description : Explores a particular topic of current interest in gender studies, and may be cross-listed with other departments. Topics will vary with each offering of the course. Different iterations of the course may be taken for credit with the instructor's consent. TOPICS FOR Fall 2025: Topics in Gender Studies: Self Narratives PREREQUISITES: GEST 100, or another GEST class and consent of instructor How do we tell the story of ourselves? This course examines gender and sexuality in life writing in the global context, including autobiography, memoir, autofiction, and more. Rather than asking how identity shapes our experiences, we will examine how storytelling shapes the self and language challenges fixed notions of who we are.
