Prerequisites/Notes: FIST 100 or consent of instructor Catalog Description : Topics in Film Studies allows for an in depth examination of topics across time, for example, the work of women directors, or it permits a detailed analysis of special topics, for example, Turkish-German or Central European film. TOPICS FOR Winter 2026: Methods in Film and Media Studies PREREQUISITES: Sophomore Standing This writing-intensive course will familiarize students with the methodologies used in the study of film and related media, ranging from theoretical arguments to archival studies; from close analysis to reception studies. Regular assignments will build students’ research and writing skills, finally culminating in designing a pitch for a larger research project.
