Catalog Description : This course provides an overview of the history of economics on a global scale. We focus on the explosive world economic growth of the past five centuries through mercantilism, liberalism, and twentieth century alternatives. We also look at different explanatory models, like Dependency and World Systems theories. The term culminates with the global rise of financialization, automation, and overwork phenomena like karoshi.
