Catalog Description : This course examines the Heart Sutra, a short work that conveys the essence of Buddhist philosophy. Student learn to read the text in Tibetan (developing skills in pronunciation, basic grammar, and vocabulary). Students also engage English-language readings that explore philosophy, history, geography and gender in the Heart Sutra. Vocabulary and reading quizzes, short translations, short paper.
