Catalog Description : This seminar is an intensive study of Michel Foucault, focusing on his analyses of religion. This course also examines how scholars in religious studies have engaged Foucault from various theoretical vantage points (e.g., postcolonialism, feminism, Black studies, queer theory). Supplementary works may include Niki Kasumi Clements, Lynne Huffer, Mark Jordan, Saba Mahmood, Gayatri Spivak, Susan Stryker, Sylvia Wynter. Discussion, presentation, final paper.
