Catalog Description : What does rebellion look like in a socialist society, where people’s lives are planned for them, “from cradle to grave” and where the state employs spy networks to control its citizens? This course examines representations of rebellious youth in films, texts, photography, and music from East Germany in the context of the country’s history and its afterlife in united Germany. The course taught in English.
