Prerequisites/Notes: Any Anthropology course and sophomore standing OR instructor approval Catalog Description : This seminar course is an exploration of holistic anthropological perspectives on understanding Homo sapiens' long and complex relationship with alcoholic beverages. We will consider humans and alcohol from the perspectives of history/prehistory, genetics and evolution, physiology and health, social structures, culture, and language. This is not primarily a course about alcohol use disorder or other alcohol-related pathologies. Exam, discussion leadership and participation, essay.
