Catalog Description : In the 17th century, we can witness one of the first shared global visual and material cultures, now known as the Baroque. As newly formed maritime trade routes crisscrossed the world, empire-building projects and the endeavors of Catholic missions collided in the circulation of art and architecture from Africa, Asia, and the New World. In this course we will trace the multiple trajectories of new and exotic ideas, materials, and visual programs as they traversed the major cities around the world. Not open to students who have previously received or need to receive credit for ARHI 475. PREREQUISITES: ARHI 100, 101, 102, or instructor approval
