Catalog Description : The course explores the balance between democratic participation and expert analysis in the design and implementation of public policy. Special attention is paid to problem definition, institutional design, and evaluation of outcomes. The course also considers the ethics and role of AI tools in policy analysis. Each time the course is offered, it highlights a different policy area, such as transportation, health care, or immigration. PREREQUISITES: GOVT 271 or MATH 107 or instructor approval
