Prerequisites/Notes: GER 312 or instructor approval Catalog Description : The course explores depictions of fin de siècle Vienna in literature, film, and material culture. By focusing on representations of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sisi) and the continued fascination with her life and tragic death, the course critically engages with topics such as gender and control, collecting and collections, and the function(s) of celebrity culture. Requirements include essays, creative projects, and presentations.
