Prerequisites/Notes: FIST 100, FIST 114 or instructor approval Catalog Description : This seminar will familiarize students with major topics within contemporary theories of Blackness and race, including the afterlives of slavery, afro-pessimism, prison abolitionism, and racial capitalism. These will be put in conversation with a sampling of contemporary Black film, asking how each speaks to or challenges the other.
