Prerequisites/Notes: Sophomore Standing Catalog Description : In this topics course, students combine practice in the community with academic coursework to examine a contemporary issue in education and society. typically, one-third of the course takes place in community settings. May be repeated when topics are different. PREREQUISITES: Sophomore Standing TOPIC FOR Spring 2027: Just Play! If, as Maria Montessori wrote, “the work of the child is play,” might play also be essential to the work—and well-being—of us all? In this seminar, explore play as a serious force in learning, work, creativity, and living the good life. Expect to talk, write, observe, and play—using reflection and active research strategies to better understand why play matters.
