Prerequisites/Notes: Sophomore standing, one 300-level creative writing class, or instructor approval

Catalog Description : This interdisciplinary course explores how environmental knowledge emerges through lived experience and imaginative practice. The course integrates environmental humanities and creative writing methods to investigate landscapes, communities, and ecosystems, with an emphasis on Indigenous perspectives. Assignments will include keeping a field journal and creating a piece of environmental creative writing in a genre of the student’s choice. Students taking the 500-level course will pursue a more substantial creative writing project and will have the opportunity to take on leadership roles within the class. Not open to students who have previously received credit for ENG 372 or ENST 372. PREREQUISITES: Sophomore standing, one 300-level creative writing class, or instructor approval
