Prerequisites/Notes: Instructor Approval Catalog Description : A survey and brief history of vocal music during the Third Reich, starting around 1919 CE and ending post-WW II. Particular focus will be Entartete-Musik or “degenerate music” as determined by the Nazi regime. Works of Strauss, Orff, Weill, Korngold, Berg among many others will be explored. Lectures, readings, listening, performance, and written assignments. PREREQUISITES: Instructor Approval Attributes: Music Course, GER Fine Arts Div, 400-599 Advanced Course
